The successes of We share the power! grant 2022
A Budapest Pride 2022-ben ötödik alkalommal hirdetett pályázatot olyan események és projektek megszervezésére, amivel a vidéki LMBTQ közösségeket és kultúrát erősítik. A pályázók lehettek formális szervezetek, baráti társaságok, de lelkes aktivisták is, akik szívesen szerveznek közösséget. A Megosztjuk az erőt! pályázatra idén kilenc pályázat érkezett be, amiből hetet választottunk ki nyertesnek. Közöttük osztottuk szét az összesen 1.060.500 forintot, ami a tavalyi Szolidaritási Alap adománygyűjtés keretében gyűlt össze.
In 2022, Budapest Pride announced a tender for the fifth time for the organization of events and projects that strengthen rural LGBTQ communities and culture. The applicants could be formal organizations, groups of friends, but also enthusiastic activists who are happy to organize a community. For the We share the power! tender nine applications were received this year, of which seven were selected as winners. We divided the total of HUF 1,060,500, which was collected as part of last year's Solidarity Fund fundraiser, between them.
The We share the power! applicants of 2022 organized a total of 14 events in the following four cities from the allocated application amount.
Debrecen:
- A conversation about asexuality
The workshop in Debrecen was organized by the Hungarian Asexual Community, during which the participants could learn more about asexuality, prejudices and stereotypes about asexual people and the process of coming out. The organization also presented its information booklet on asexuality at the event
- Fiatalok a színesebb Debrecenért
“A pályázati időszak alatt több különböző eseményt is szerveztünk. Célunk az volt, hogy a Debrecenben élő LMBTQ+ fiataloknak egy otthonos, biztonságos környezetet teremtsünk, ahol azon túl, hogy korlátok nélkül megélhetik azt amilyenek ők valójában, még barátokat, kapcsolatot építhetnek és kikapcsolódhatnak.” A debreceni fiatal aktivisták közössége, a CívisColors közös készülődést és utazást szervezett a Budapest Pride-ot megelőzően. Emellett további három közösségépítő eseményt szerveztek: egy közös főzést, egy bowling és biliárd estet és egy halloweeni bulit is.
- Young people for a more colorful Debrecen
"During the tender period, we organized several different events. Our goal was to create a homelike, safe environment for the LGBTQ+ youth living in Debrecen, where, in addition to being able to live as they really are without limitations, they can also build friends and relationships and relax." The community of young activists from Debrecen, CívisColors, organized a preparation event before and trip to Budapest Pride. In addition, three other community-building events were organized: a community cooking, a bowling and billiards evening and a Halloween party.
- Queer Zine
The team Queer Szörp, also from Debrecen, aimed to create a queer zine, for which they would have collected works from queer artists through a tender. Unfortunately, due to low interest, the zine could not be completed, so the tender amount was returned to the Solidarity Fund and will be distributed again next year.
Tatabánya:
- Tatabánya Pride Filmclub
The Tatabánya Pride informal group, established after the 2021 Budapest Pride Free University, organized two film clubs as part of its application. Both events were part of the month-long Budapest Pride Community Festival. Attendees were able to watch the films Rocketman and The Danish Girl at the events.
Pécs:
- 2. Pécs Pride March
For the second time this year, the Diverse Youth Network team from Pécs managed to organize Hungary's first Pride march outside the capital with the support of Budapest Pride. The Pécs Pride Parade was part of the human rights festival in Pécs, which, in addition to the programs of Amnesty International Hungary, UCCU and the Emberség Erejével Foundation, was supplemented by the youth organization's own programs.
- Rainbowcolor Affirmative Group
"This four session program series was led by psychologists who helped with self-awareness and self-acceptance. (…) It was in this accepting environment that, for the first time in his life, he was able to publicly express who he is, how he defines himself." 3 psychologists from Pécs created a very important and gap-filling project, which was evaluated as a success by both the organizers and the participants.
Miskolc:
- 5. Pink Picnic
The Miskolc Gay Friends Circle organized the community-building event for the fifth time, during which local and regional LGBTQ people can get to know others, find a community and learn more about the LGBTQ community and its opportunities. The event strengthened the ranks of the rural program possibilities of the Budapest Pride Community Festival.
Help rural activist communities organize more LGBTQ programs than ever before in 2023! Support the LGBTQ organizations and groups outside of Budapest, because freedom and love are needed not only in Budapest, but in the whole country!
