Gólya Community House and Cooperative Café

Gólya Café is a cooperatively run pub and community centre in the 8th district of Budapest. It has three levels: a concert hall on the ground floor, a café-dining area and a private room upstairs, and a roof terrace on the flat roof. Nine other organisations operate in a separate part of the building, with a sports and dance hall, a workshop, radio, editorial office, day care and offices. The bar and kitchen serve a wide range of food and drink. Live music and concerts fill the space with life several times a week, along with a wide range of other activities: film clubs, lectures, talks, board games, workshops. The Gólya also hosts public and private events for groups (friends, families) and organisations - birthdays, graduations, conferences, fundraising parties, training and classes, and various meetings, including political and public meetings. We work with a number of allied organisations who use our spaces and with whom we share ideas.
